About this game
About Starling Pop Physics Merging Game
Starling Pop is a cozy 2D physics drop-and-merge puzzle designed for tactile satisfaction and relaxation. Living in deep night skies, starlings are gentle celestial creatures that glow in soft colors. Players guide the horizontal drop position and release sprites into a transparent starlight chamber. When two matching starlings collide, they merge seamlessly into a larger tier.
Crafted with completely original celestial lore and soft particle feedback, Starling Pop has no countdowns, stamina limits, or forced ads. Watch sprites squish and settle naturally, keep stack height safely below the deadline, and reach the Eternity Starling or trigger an ultimate Cosmic Bloom.
Features in this version
12 Original Sprite Tiers
Progress from tiny Sparkles and glowing Fireflies to planetary Aurora sprites and twelve-rayed Eternity tier, each with distinct color harmonies and radiant cores.
Soft Physics & Atomic Merges
Fixed-timestep physics drives soft bounce and squash. Same-tier collision pairs are resolved together, consuming each sprite at most once per step.
Cosmic Bloom & Fair Overflow
Colliding two tier-12 Eternity sprites triggers a glorious Cosmic Bloom (+20480 pts) without oversized clutter. A 1.5s confirmed deadline timer prevents premature game-overs from transient bounces.
Getting started
- Anchor high tiers in corners: Keep larger sprites along the bottom corners to allow smaller arriving sprites plenty of room to roll and find matches.
- Staircase tier alignment: Arrange neighboring sprites in ascending tiers (Lv1 beside Lv2, Lv2 beside Lv3) to ignite satisfying chain reactions when a merge occurs.
- Watch the upper deadline headroom: As starlings pile near the top dotted deadline, favor dropping smaller sprites into valleys to eliminate peaks before the 1.5s timer triggers.
Frequently asked questions
When does the game end?
The starlight chamber features a dashed deadline near the top. The game ends only when a settled sprite stays above the line continuously for over 1.5 seconds. Transient bounces or dropping sprites during initial descent do not trigger a game over.
What happens when two level-12 sprites collide?
This triggers the unique Cosmic Bloom: both Eternity sprites disperse into dazzling starlight particles, awarding a massive +20480 points bonus without spawning oversized unmanageable spheres, allowing your run to continue.
Are high scores and progress saved locally?
Yes, Starling Pop runs entirely client-side. Your personal high score is securely preserved in your browser's localStorage. Initial loading requires a connection; loaded gameplay works offline without an account. The current board is not restored after a refresh.
